Kadem Project Opens Six Gates, Releases 48,000 Cusecs Downstream
The project is receiving 73,000 cusecs of inflows from the upstream areas and the inflows were expected to increase because of the incessant rains that were lashing the State for the last few days.
Hyderabad: Six gates of Kadem project in Nirmal district were opened by Telangana Irrigation department on Thursday to release 48,000 cusecs of water downstream.
The project is receiving 73,000 cusecs of inflows from the upstream areas and the inflows were expected to increase because of the incessant rains that were lashing the State for the last few days.
The upstream areas especially in Nasik and its surroundings in Maharashtra were receiving heavy rainfall for the last few days inundating the low-lying areas. As a result, the inflows to the Kadem project might increase further.
The officials issued an advisory asking the people residing in the downstream areas to be careful and asked the shepherds not to venture out till the water levels recede.
