Hyderabad: The year-long investigation into the Kaleshwaram project barrages by the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry is all set to conclude with Justice Ghose expected to submit his report to the government in the next couple of days.

The commission’s term concludes on July 31, and after seven extensions since it was set up last year, no further extensions are expected with Justice Ghose reportedly ready with the report.

Much is riding on the report for the Congress government which said it will take action on all those found responsible for the problems at the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme’s barrages at Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla based on the Justice Ghose commission report. The report is expected to identify responsibility for various aspects of KLIS and decision making that finally ended up with problems at all the three barrages, with the one at Medigadda being the worst affected.

While several current and former government officials, including IAS officers are expected to see their roles with respect to KLIS come to the fore, the three companies that were given the contracts — Navayuga, Afcons, and L&T — too are expected to come under scrutiny in the report.

Among those who were questioned by the commission were former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, and former finance minister Etala Rajendar. Justice Ghose, who arrived in the city on Sunday evening, is expected to give the final finishing touches to his report, and submit it to the government before July 31.
