Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has called the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) water issue a political drama and a stunt.

He assured that the Congress government will complete all the pending irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district. The Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme will be completed 100 per to provide irrigation water to farmers.

Rao spoke at the Secretariat Media Center on Friday along with MLAs Madhusudhan Reddy, Veerlapalli Shankar and irrigation department officials.

According to Rao, there is a shortage of rain across the country due to the effect of El Nino. Water management for Jurala, Nettempadu, Bhima and Koilasagar projects is being done as per the plan of irrigation department officials.

Due to rains in upper areas, the inflows to Jurala project and other projects is increasing. Accordingly, the officials are releasing water as per the plan. The BJP leaders, who are aware of this in advance, are creating a ruckus at the projects and are trying to spread the word that the officials are releasing water due to their pressure.

The BJP, which has been in power for ten years, has neglected these projects that provide irrigation water to lakhs of acres. It ignored the Palamuru irrigation projects, h alleged.
