WARANGAL: Jangaon ranked among the top 50 districts in India in the recent National Achievement Survey (NAS-2024), district collector Rizwan Basha Shaik announced on Saturday. He attributed this success to the targeted plans and hard work of the district’s education department officials and government school teachers.

The NAS test, conducted last December, assessed students in Classes 3, 6 and 9 across all subjects. To support preparation, education officials guided teachers in refining their instructional methods and monitoring progress. Subject‐wise teacher teams met monthly to develop practice questions from textbooks and distribute them to students.

For Class 3 pupils, many encountering such assessments for the first time, teachers provided special practice sheets to minimise errors. Beginning in August, they also launched a “Reading-Writing Excellence” (RWE) programme to deepen students’ comprehension of test questions.

District education officer D. Bhojanna told the Deccan Chronicle that, starting last August, they collaborated with state education groups to introduce innovative programmes. They formed dedicated teacher cohorts for Classes 3, 6 and 9, training them on NAS testing procedures so they could better prepare learners.

Monthly meetings with school headmasters tracked student readiness, while education officers regularly visited schools to ensure high-quality instruction. In addition to official NAS practice tests, Jangaon organised its own mock exams and a comprehensive final rehearsal.

Collector Shaik himself reviewed school-wise test results each month, commending high-performing schools and encouraging others to improve. As a result of these concerted efforts, Jangaon secured 16th place nationally for Class 3, 35th for Class 6, and 33rd for Class 9.
