Rajasthan Man Arrested for Selling Fake Gold

Hyderabad: Film Nagar police on Saturday arrested a Rajasthan-based scammer for allegedly duping people by selling fake gold to them. His manipulations were effectively countered by an alert person from the city.

According to investigating officer Satish Kumar, the accused has been identified as Inamul Hussain, 30, while the complainant was Abdullah Ibrahim, a 52-year-old businessman from Tolichowki.

According to the police, Ibrahim got a call from Hussain on January 6 offering eight kg gold for rupees two crore. The caller said that he was offering the deal as he was caught in a financial emergency. Suspecting the intentions, Ibrahim refused to oblige.

On January 14, the accused took a train from Mathura, reached Hyderabad and contacted Ibrahim. Two days later, Hussain reached Ibrahim's shop and offered two fake gold biscuits for rupees 30 lakh.

Under the pretext of a quality check, Ibrahim made the accused sit in his car and took him to the police station, where the police detained Hussain. A case was registered against him. He has been sent to judicial remand.
