Jailed, Fined For Drunk Driving

Police said Kanneboina Mahesh Babu, 29, employed with Intercity Universal Travels, was caught on December 15 near S R Nagar Metro station during a special drive against drunk driving.

HYDERABAD: The IX Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC), K Shreewani of Nampally court, sentenced a private bus driver to 15 days’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,100 for drunk driving.

Police said Kanneboina Mahesh Babu, 29, employed with Intercity Universal Travels, was caught on December 15 near S R Nagar Metro station during a special drive against drunk driving. His breathalyser test showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 119.100 mg, well above permissible limits.

Mahesh Babu was driving a travel bus (TS12UE0402) carrying passengers from Kukatpally to Guntur district when intercepted. He was later produced before court on Wednesday and, following sentencing, escorted to Chanchalguda Central Prison, police added.
