Jagtial goldsmiths withdraw stir as quality row resolved
Local shop owners admitted that a few low-quality biscuits were mistakenly included in standard shipments and assured that tighter inspection measures would be implemented to prevent future occurrences
Karimnagar (Jagtial): The Gold Smith Association in Jagtial district ended its protest on Sunday after local jewellers clarified that low-quality gold biscuits had inadvertently been mixed into their orders from Hyderabad.
The protest had erupted when some shop owners, aiming to attract customers with lower prices, sold these inferior biscuits. Unsuspecting buyers then sought high-quality ornaments from local goldsmiths, who were unable to deliver the expected standard, thereby tarnishing their reputation.
Association president V. Buchaiah and secretary G. Satyanarayana told Deccan Chronicle that testing machines confirmed the biscuits’ substandard composition, affecting the credibility of local artisans.
Local shop owners admitted that a few low-quality biscuits were mistakenly included in standard shipments and assured that tighter inspection measures would be implemented to prevent future occurrences.
Following these assurances, both parties reached an understanding, prompting the Gold Smith Association to call off their protest and reaffirming their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the local gold trade.
