Karimnagar: Police departments of Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts have shown a significant improvement in law and order for the year 2025, according to the annual roundup presented by the district superintendents of police on Tuesday.

SPs Ashok Kumar (Jagtial) and Mahesh B. Gite (Sircilla) said crime rates have dropped 5.05 per cent in Jagtial and 14.04 per cent in Rajanna Sircilla. Both districts have successfully conducted elections and festivals, apart from organising major public gatherings peacefully.

In Jagtial, SP Ashok Kumar highlighted that 5,620 crimes had been recorded in 2025 compared to 5,919 in the previous year. Police solved 187 property theft cases, recovering assets worth Rs 2.92 crore. Using the CEIR portal, the department recovered 1,551 lost mobile phones valued at Rs 3.10 crore. Additionally, Rs 172 crore lost in cybercrimes have been frozen and subsequently returned to victims.

Ashok Kumar said the district made history by involving 11 transgender persons in traffic management during the Ganesh festivities. In addition, Jagtial district police focused on road safety by training shopkeepers as first responders in CPR and first aid. 189 Anti-Drug Clubs have been formed in schools, and 24 kg of ganja seized during the year.

In Rajanna Sircilla, SP Mahesh Gite said the district achieved a massive 14 per cent reduction in overall crime, with specific focus on visible policing through the Village Police Officer (VPO) system. The district ranked No.1 in the state for mobile phone recovery, successfully returning 83 per cent of missing phones (2,218) to their owners.

Murder cases dropped by 15.38 per cent and kidnapping cases decreased by 54 per cent. However, cases related to the POCSCO Act and rape saw an increase, which SP Mahesh attributed to higher awareness and victims’ feeling more confident to come forward and file complaints.

The district’s legal team secured 95 convictions, including life sentences in three murder cases. To keep the youth away from addiction, the police launched ‘Drug Test with Urine Kits’ under all police stations and organised 5K runs and 2K rallies for awareness, Rajanna Sircilla SP stated.

While Jagtial district saw a slight increase in the total number of accidents, the number of deaths decreased due to better medical response times. In Rajanna Sircilla, total accidents dropped by nearly 14 per cent. Both districts conducted thousands of drunk and drive tests to ensure safer roads.
