KARIMNAGAR: Heavy rains over the past few days have caused a significant rise in water levels at major and minor irrigation projects in the erstwhile Karimnagar and Warangal districts, with some projects recording their highest levels in recent times.

According to officials, the Mid Manair Dam (MMD) of the Sri Raja Rajeshwari Reservoir is currently receiving an inflow of around 5,710 cusecs, with an outflow of 110 cusecs downstream. The current water storage at MMD stands at 8.08 TMC ft, against its full capacity of 27.55 TMC ft.

The Annapurna Reservoir currently holds about 1.27 TMC ft of water, with a full capacity of 3.50 TMC ft. The Upper Manair Project has a water level of 1.29 TMC ft, compared to its full capacity of 2 TMC ft. The Sripada Yellampalli Project is receiving an inflow of around 35,506 cusecs, with an outflow of 451 cusecs. Its current water storage is 15.075 TMC ft, against its full capacity of 20.175 TMC ft.

At the Lakshmi (Medigadda) Barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), a heavy inflow of approximately 3,41,350 cusecs has been recorded. Officials have opened 85 gates to release the same volume downstream, resulting in free-flow conditions. The barrage’s storage capacity is 16.17 TMC ft, but it is currently operating at free flow.

Similarly, the Parvathi (Sundilla) Barrage has recorded an inflow of about 7,652 cusecs. By lifting 74 gates, officials have released an equal amount downstream. The barrage’s storage capacity is 8.83 TMC ft and is currently in free-flow condition. At the Saraswathi (Annaram) Barrage, an inflow of about 9,043 cusecs has been recorded, with all of it being released downstream by lifting 66 gates. The barrage’s storage capacity is 10.87 TMC ft and is also in free-flow condition.

The Sammakka Sagar Barrage has recorded a total inflow of around 2,28,430 cusecs. Currently, about 2,32,670 cusecs are being released by lifting 22 spill gates. The present water storage level is 2.802 TMC ft, against its full capacity of 6.94 TMC ft.

Meanwhile, at the Ramannagudem Pushkar Ghat in Mulugu district, the Godavari water level has reached 69.32 meters, compared to its maximum flood level of 110.82 metres. Officials have stated that the first warning level will be issued if the water level reaches 73.32 metres.
