Irrigation Officials Alert People Living Near Banks of Peddavagu

Adilabad: All major and medium irrigation projects including Kadam, Sathnala, Mathadivagu and Komaram Bheem have started receiving inflows, bringing cheer to local farmers.
Irrigation officials of Komaram Bheem project have alerted people living on the banks of the Peddavagu River about gates of the project being opened on Wednesday in case the inflows increase.
They warned people, cattle grazers and fishermen to remain alert and not venture into the streams or rivulets downstream.
Ahead of the monsoon, officials have carried out repairs to the Sathnala project in Adilabad district. With this, three of the gates of the dam are in operation. This will help in regulating outflow of water from the project once it is filled.
On the other hand, the Mathadivagu project has started receiving heavy inflows following copious rains in upstream Maharashtra.
Officials of Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad district are on alert following forecasts of floods in rivers Pranahita, Penganga and Godavari for three days from Wednesday.
Water level reached 1,174 feet against FTL of 1,183 feet in Swarna project of Nirmal district on Tuesday.
