Nalgonda: An executive engineer of the irrigation department, Maddevuri Satheesh Chandra, 52, died after allegedly falling into the D-37 canal of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal in Nalgonda district. Locals found him lying in the canal, where the water level was low, and alerted the police. Nalgonda rural police retrieved the body and shifted it to the Government General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Police said preliminary findings suggest he may have gone near the canal and slipped accidentally. His mobile phone was reported missing.
Family members said Satheesh Chandra had left his residence in Ravindra Nagar Colony in the morning for a site visit following a request from a contractor.
