Iran's Consul General Lauds Telangana Archives Efforts For Preserving Persian Heritage

Hyderabad: The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hamid Ahmadiye, visited the Telangana State Archives and Research Institute on Wednesday and met the Director of the institute, Dr. Zareena Parveen, and appreciated the efforts of the Institute and the Noor International Microfilm Centre (NIMC) for their contribution towards preserving the common cultural heritage of the two countries.

Hyderabad shares a centuries-old historical, cultural, and socio-religious connection with Iran that dates back to the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th century. This enduring relationship spans from royal patronage of Persian art and architecture to modern-day tourism ties, and despite the modern geopolitical challenges, continues to foster Indo-Persian literature and culture, building a connection that still influences the city's identity.

The Consul General reviewed the work being undertaken by the Noor International Microfilm Centre in the preservation, conservation and digitisation of valuable historical manuscripts and archival materials. NIMC has partnered with the Telangana State Archives and Research Institute to digitize, index, and repair historical documents and Persian manuscripts dating back to the Bahmani and Qutb Shahi dynasties, funded by Iran.
