Former CBI Director Seeks Fairness In IPS Trainee Uday Krishna Reddy Case
Former CBI director M. Nageswara Rao has called for fairness and parity in the disciplinary action involving IPS probationer Uday Krishna Reddy.
Hyderabad: Former CBI director M. Nageswara Rao has called for fairness and parity in the disciplinary action involving IPS probationer Uday Krishna Reddy and a woman co-trainee at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad.
Sharing his views on X, Rao said disciplinary action cannot be one-sided when two competing versions of the case exist. While the woman probationer has alleged sexual harassment and assault, Reddy has denied the accusations, maintaining that their relationship was consensual and that he was falsely implicated.
Nageshwara Rao also highlighted Uday Krishna Reddy’s journey from a constable to IPS officer, saying his training should continue while due process takes its course. He further stated that either both probationers should face identical disciplinary action for the alleged misconduct or Reddy’s suspension should be revoked pending investigation.
On Sunday, police had registered a case of alleged sexual harassment, posting obscene videos, stalking and blackmailing following a complaint by the female IPS trainee, and summoned Uday Krishna to appear before the investigation officer.
The IPS trainee on Monday attempted suicide at his brother’s place in Motinagar, Borabanda, on Monday. He was immediately taken by his relatives to a hospital in SR Nagar, where he is undergoing treatment and is stated to be in danger.
Earlier in the day, Krishna Reddy posted on his Instagram handle that the “complaints and propaganda” against him were false. He said he had full faith in the law and that justice would prevail.
