INTUC Protests Against Union Budget 2025
The demonstration was part of a nationwide call given by Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, chairman of the central trade unions coordination Committee and president of INTUC.
Hyderabad: Members from Intuc and central trade unions on Wednesday staged a protest at the Ambedkar statue opposite the Secretariat, terming the Union Budget 2025 as being 'pro-corporate', while neglecting workers, farmers, unemployed youth and women.
The demonstration was part of a nationwide call given by Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, chairman of the central trade unions coordination Committee and president of INTUC.
The protesters accused the Union government of failing to address key economic concerns, including unemployment, inflation and wage stagnation. They lamented that the budget did not offer any concrete measures to tackle the country’s soaring unemployment rate, leaving millions of young job seekers in distress. They also highlighted the rising inflation and lack of relief for the people, particularly the poor.
"The Centre’s continued push for privatisation, including one hundred per cent FDI in the insurance sector, endangers public assets and rural livelihoods. The budget has failed to address the ongoing agrarian crisis," said R.D. Chandra Shekar, general secretary, Telangana.
The protestors demanded greater transparency and accountability in government schemes, while cautioning that the budget is bound to further deepen the economic inequality.
