INTUC Backs Sept 10 ‘Chalo Hyderabad’; Demands PRC Implementation, OPS Return
The demands included immediate implementation of the 2nd Pay Revision Commission report, release of six pending Dearness Allowance instalments, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Hyderabad:The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) extended support to the September 10 ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ programme, backing demands for pending pay, pension and employee welfare measures. INTUC president Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy said the programme represented the concerns of more than 13.5 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and workers across Telangana.
The demands included immediate implementation of the 2nd Pay Revision Commission report, release of six pending Dearness Allowance instalments, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The unions were also seeking clearance of pending bills estimated at about ₹10,000 crore and payment of all pending retirement benefits. They have sought regularisation of contract, temporary and casual employees, along with better salaries and service conditions for such workers.
INTUC has also backed demands for protection of the rights and welfare of serving and retired employees and strengthening of the Employee Health Scheme. Dr Sanjeeva Reddy appealed to government employees, teachers, nurses and health workers, municipal employees, pensioners and trade unions to participate in the programme. INTUC vice-president G. Satyajeet Reddy, Adil Shariff, Vijay Kumar Yadav and Kasireddy Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed support for the demands.
