Adilabad: District officials have decided to conduct an integrated survey to identify water bodies under the Singur segment covering the Jukkal, Banswada and Yellareddy Assembly constituencies in Kamareddy district.
The initiative aims to prevent drinking water shortages, conserve rainwater and develop a long-term strategy to tackle future water scarcity.
A special committee comprising the additional collector, ZP CEO, district panchayat officer (DPO), officials from the groundwater department and mission bhagiratha has been constituted for the purpose.
The committee will prepare a comprehensive plan to optimise the utilisation of water from the Singur Reservoir and improve groundwater conservation across 14 mandals in the three Assembly constituencies.
It will identify and map all water sources, including borewells, hand pumps, single-phase motor connections and protected water supply (PWS) schemes in villages, besides assessing water availability.
Based on the survey, the committee will recommend measures, including the construction of recharge pits wherever necessary, to improve groundwater recharge and ensure sustainable water management.
