Indiramma House Bills To Be Cleared in 10 Days: Ponguleti
Referring to the challenges posed by the El Niño effect, particularly in electricity and water supply, Ponguleti advised farmers against taking up a second crop to avoid potential losses.
Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday announced that pending final bills for Indiramma houses would be paid to beneficiaries within 10 days.
Distributing sanction letters for the second phase of Indiramma houses at a meeting held at Rythu Vedika in Nelakondapalli mandal of Khammam district, the minister said the amounts would be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through a transparent and corruption-free process.
He said that of the 648 houses sanctioned in the first phase in Nelakondapalli mandal, construction of 620 had been completed, while the remaining houses had reached the roof-level stage. He directed officials to ensure that the pending houses were completed at the earliest. Referring to the challenges posed by the El Niño effect, particularly in electricity and water supply, Ponguleti advised farmers against taking up a second crop to avoid potential losses.
Later, the minister laid the foundation stone for works aimed at developing tourism infrastructure and preserving the Buddhist heritage site at Nelakondapalli. He assured that the historic Buddhist Stupa and its surrounding areas would be developed into an international Buddhist tourism hub.
The Stupa was discovered around 50 to 55 years ago and is considered one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the country. Although the previous government had initiated development works at the site, the project remained incomplete.
Excavations conducted by the Archaeological Department within a 1.5-km radius of the Stupa unearthed several ancient artefacts. However, these were shifted to museums in Hyderabad owing to a lack of facilities for their preservation at Nelakondapalli.
Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stone for a 2.5-km-long bitumen road from Anasagaram to Pammi in Nelakondapalli mandal. The road project has been taken up at an estimated cost of ₹2.80 crore.
