India’s First Fast-Track Research Supply Centre Launched at UoH

Hyderabad: A fast-track research supply facility, claimed to be the first of its kind in India, has been launched at the ASPIRE-BioNEST incubation centre in the University of Hyderabad. The centre, set up in collaboration with global science company Thermo Fisher Scientific, aims to cut down delays in obtaining lab materials and speed up scientific research.
Located within the university’s bioincubation hub, the facility gives researchers immediate access to lab reagents, consumables, and other critical supplies—sometimes on the same day or by the next working day. This is expected to significantly benefit startups, faculty, and scientists from nearby institutes such as TIFR, NIAB, and IIL.
The supply centre is part of the initiative by Thermo Fisher to partner with Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across India. ASPIRE-BioNEST is one of only four such centres chosen. Known for supporting early-stage biotech ventures, the Hyderabad-based incubator provides laboratory infrastructure, mentorship, and a growing innovation network.
Officials say the supply centre will help maintain experimental continuity and reduce disruptions caused by procurement delays. It is also seen as a step toward strengthening collaboration between industry and academia, with the potential to raise Hyderabad’s profile as a research hub.
The new facility was inaugurated by Prof. Rajagopal, Director of ASPIRE-BioNEST; Jacqueline Ng, Director for Asia Pacific and Japan at Thermo Fisher Scientific; Jayabharat Reddy, Director – Commercial for LPD & BID, South Asia; and Dr. Anil Kondreddy, CEO of ASPIRE-BioNEST, alongside other senior representatives from the research community.
