IMD Issues Yellow Warning To Districts As Monsoon Advances Across Telangana

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow rainfall warning for the city and several districts, as the southwest monsoon continued its advance across the region. The weather department has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over the coming days.
The yellow alert asks residents to “be aware” and “watch” and watch for changes in the weather. Officials have advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during lightning activity.
According to the IMD, isolated heavy rainfall was recorded in Sangareddy and Vikarabad districts on Sunday.
For Hyderabad, the forecast for Monday hours predicts generally cloudy skies with light rain or thundershowers, especially during the evening or night. Gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are also expected in parts of the city. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 35°C, while the minimum temperature may be about 25°C.
Rainfall activity is expected to increase gradually across Telangana from June 16, with many districts likely to receive widespread rain by June 17 and 18. Heavy rainfall has also been forecast at isolated places in Hyderabad and neighboring districts from June 18 to June 20.
The weather department said there will be no major change in daytime temperatures for the next two days, followed by a gradual fall of up to 3º Celsius later in the week.
