IMD Issues Red Alert for Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad

The IMD has cautioned residents to remain alert, avoid low-lying areas, and follow safety advisories as more rain is expected.

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a red alert for Sangareddy, Medak, and Vikarabad districts on Thursday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

An orange alert has been sounded in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, while a yellow alert remains in force for the rest of the state.

According to officials, Kannepally in Mancherial district recorded the highest rainfall at 23.3 cm, followed by Tandur (Mancherial) 18.2 cm, Chityal (Bhupalpally) 18.2 cm, Nennela (Mancherial) 14.6 cm, and Ginnedari (Kumuram Bheem) 14.3 cm on Wednesday, August 13.

In Hyderabad, heavy showers were also reported, with Mamidipally in Balapur mandal receiving 9.35 cm of rainfall till 9 pm on Wednesday. Shamshabad recorded 7 cm during the same period.

The IMD has cautioned residents to remain alert, avoid low-lying areas, and follow safety advisories as more rain is expected.
