HYDRAA to Complete Bathukammakunta Rejuvenation by September
HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath said that works are going on in full swing.
Hyderabad:After months of legal battles and hurdles, HYDRAA is set to complete the rejuvenation works of Amberpet Bathukammakunta by September. HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath said that works are going on in full swing. Legal disputes over the ownership of land slowed the work.
In the preliminary notification issued by HMDA in 2021, the lake’s area was spread over 14.020 acres and a bund length of 396.154 metres, but no water spread. Only 5.15 acres of un-encroached land is left of the lake.
Ranganath said “More than 1 km outlet is being revived, and this wasn’t there earlier. Flooding of the nearby areas will be mitigated to a great extent.”
Locals expressed happiness over HYDRAA’s works. Mohd. Arif, a resident, said “It is very impressive to see the lake being brought back to live so quickly. HYDRAA faced a lot of problems politically, but they managed to successfully bring back our lake.”
HYDRAA took up the responsibility of rejuvenating the lake in February, along with Sunnam Cheruvu and Thammidikunta lakes at Madhapur, Uppal's Nalla Cheruvu, Rajendranagar’s Bum Rukn-ud-Dowla and Kukatpally’s Nalla Cheruvu.
