Illegal Buildings Razed At Old Alwal Lake
On Thursday, three illegally built structures were demolished by Hydraa staff.
Hyderabad:Hyderabad:Revenue officials in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district carried out a demolition drive early on Thursday morning, razing three illegal buildings at Dinakar Nagar in Alwal.
The structures were reportedly built by encroaching upon the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of Chinnarayuni Cheruvu, also known as Old Alwal Lake.
The demolition began at around 5 AM under tight police security. The buildings, each consisting of ground plus one floor, were still under construction at the time of the operation.
According to revenue officials, the structures were unauthorised as they stood on protected lake land. "These illegal structures were clearly on lake land. All three buildings were demolished.
We are acting to protect public water bodies," said an official involved in the operation.
However, local residents claimed that no prior notice was given before the demolition. "In the morning, the owners tried arguing with the authorities that they had not received any prior intimation.
But police officials quickly took them away," said Ramesh Naik, a local resident. The demolition drive is part of ongoing efforts by the authorities to protect urban water bodies from illegal encroachments.
