HYDERABAD: HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath during a visit on Saturday reviewed development work at the Bum-Rukn-ud-Dowla lake in Rajendranagar on Saturday. He asked officials to take special care to protect the historical value of the lake while completing the remaining works.

Ranganath inspected walking tracks on the bund, fencing inside the lake, play areas for children, gazebos for senior citizens, parks and open gyms. He also directed officials to ensure easy access to the lake with proper roads and entry gates.

The lake, which had almost lost its identity due to encroachments, has been reclaimed by HYDRAA. The agency, after the removal of illegal structures, worked towards restoring and rejuvenating the historic lake.

HYDRAA plans to develop the lake as a recreation centre with green parks and medicinal plants. The lake will also help control flooding, as inlets are being built to bring rainwater from areas up to 10 km away.
