Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has freed four parks from encroachers and these land parcels together located in Rajendranagar measure 19,878 square yards with the estimated value being Rs.139 crore.

The encroachment of four parks in Jana Chaitanya Layout Phases I and II spared across Budvel and Upparpally in Rajendranagar was reported to HYDRAA during their weekly Prajavani programme.

The Jana Chaitanya Layout was set up with Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) approval with the names Phase I & II, in about 120 acres. However, the open spaces marked in these parks were encroached. There were over 14 structures built to encroach these parks, some of them were permanent and some temporarily.

Sheds, walls, rooms were built at multiple places in these parks. While rooms were built on 3,000 square yards of land at selected places within the park land, the encroachers raised sheds and walls on 1,000 and 500 square yards of land.

Following the complaints received at the Prajavani programme, HYDRAA along with municipal and revenue officials inspected the place and found out that 19,878 square yards was encroached in four lands allotted for parks.

After demolishing the structures, HYDRAA took up fencing construction work to save these land parcels.
