Hyderabad: HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath on Wednesday visited the Rajajinagar layout in Koheda, Abdullapurmet, after residents complained of encroachment by one Samreddy Bala Reddy. They had earlier lodged a complaint during HYDRAA’s Prajavani programme, alleging that Bala Reddy had occupied their plots by using forged documents. They also claimed that parks and roads within the 17-acre layout, which consists of nearly 190 plots, had been merged and encroached upon.

After the first complaint, HYDRAA officials had removed the encroachments and demolished unauthorised structures built across internal roads.

Tensions escalated soon after Bala Reddy reportedly attempted to resume construction on the land. According to the victims, when they tried to intervene, he assaulted them and drove them away. One of the victims informed the commissioner that he sustained injuries in the attack and received 12 stitches on his scalp.

“The encroachments will be cleared, and all roads and parks as per the original layout will be protected,” Ranganathan stated, adding that criminal cases would be registered against Samreddy Bala Reddy for illegal encroachment and assault. Later, Ranganathan visited a newly formed pond in Koheda and assessed field-level complaints from locals who claimed their properties were submerged.
