Hyderabad: HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath urged young people to think about the public good and not merely about themselves. “A responsible society is built by responsible citizens,” he said at a ‘Yuva Aapada Mitra’ volunteer training programme.

The session, launched by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), aims to prepare students to protect themselves and others during disasters such as floods and fires. The event was held at the Platinum Jubilee Hall of Osmania University.

Ranganath praised students from various colleges for participating in the event, and said that they should feel proud to contribute to saving lives and property. He said that HYDRAA was providing training to build a strong community-based first responder network.

He added that quick response reduces the impact of disasters and encouraged youth to understand problems and guide others. HYDRAA officials, along with Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram, also shared suggestions during the session.
