Hyderabad Water Board Uses AI To Address Tanker Dependency
Board managing director Ashok Reddy visited Pragathinagar and interacted with residents about the water supply situation and excessive tanker dependency.
Hyderabad: Southern Residency Apartments in Pragathinagar booked 674 tankers in the past year, according to an artificial intelligence (AI) based analysis of data by the HMWS&SB. The AI analysis identified areas with the highest tanker bookings during last summer, leading the Water Board to focus on key problem regions, particularly within the ORR limits.
Board managing director Ashok Reddy visited Pragathinagar and interacted with residents about the water supply situation and excessive tanker dependency. Residents told the MD that earlier, when under municipal limits, water supply was once every 15 days, but after Water Board laid pipelines they began receiving water once a week.
However, they were now getting supply only once every two months for two days. Residents requested to arrange alternate-day water supply. In response, Ashok Reddy discussed with officials the works needed to make this possible. Officials suggested that developing a special feeder main for Pragathinagar sump could solve the issue, at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore, which has been approved.
Besides, from September 1 last year, over 6.5 lakh complaints on various issues have been registered with Water Board customer care, while consumers have booked more than 12 lakh water tankers.
The Water Board said it was using AI to resolve consumer complaints more quickly. Through AI-based analysis, complaints received in MCC and tanker booking details for the past year were being studied. This includes identifying the most common issues, regions reporting the highest number of complaints and complaints frequently registered across various categories.
