Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day forecast warning of widespread rainfall across Telangana, with heavy to very heavy rain likely in several districts. The city witnessed light rain and drizzle throughout Saturday.
The IMD said a well-marked low-pressure developing over the northwest Bay of Bengal could bring moderate rain or thundershowers at most places across the state on Sunday morning. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts.
Heavy rain is also likely in Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahbubabad, Suryapet and Kamareddy districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are forecast in parts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts.
For July 5 to 6, the forecast as heavy rainfall at Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts. Thunderstorms with winds of 40-50 kmph were also likely.
Rainfall activity is expected to reduce slightly between July 6 and 7, with light to moderate rain at a few places, though isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds may continue in northern districts.
