Hyderabad: The city witnessed an incident-free New Year celebration, with zero major accidents reported due to drunk driving, thanks to stringent enforcement measures and heightened public awareness campaigns across the city.
Sharing the update, the city police chief V.C. Sajjanar lauded the collective effort of the police, stakeholders and citizens in ensuring road safety during the festivities. He said strong enforcement drives against drunk driving, coupled with effective awareness initiatives, played a key role in preventing mishaps.
“This didn’t happen by chance. Awareness worked, responsibility won, and public cooperation made the difference,” Sajjanar stated, urging citizens to continue working together to make Hyderabad a safer and truly global city.
Reinforcing the message of road safety, he reminded people that celebration should never come at the cost of lives, stressing that alcohol and driving must never go together.
“Hyderabad ne dikhaya — celebration ho sakta, bina risk ke. Nasha aur steering ek saath nahi,” he added.
