Hyderabad, July 25: With steady rains in upstream areas, floodwaters have begun entering Himayatsagar and Osmansagar, prompting the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to step up preparedness. Ashok Reddy, MD of HMWS&SB, visited both reservoirs on Friday to assess the situation.

At Himayatsagar, he reviewed the rising water levels and emphasised strict gate management. With heavy rains forecast, he directed officials to increase CCTV monitoring and patrolling in catchment areas and the importance of strict gate management. Given the forecast of more heavy rains by the IMD, he instructed officials to remain on high alert.

Ashok Reddy later visited the pressure filter at the Gandipet conduit, a key drinking water source and reviewed its operations. He also interacted with staff at the O&M Division 18 office in Manikonda. Senior officials, including CGM Brijesh and GMs Srinivas Reddy and Santosh, accompanied him.
