Man Sits Near Pothole, Demands Road Repairs in Hyderabad
Local residents urged the GHMC Commissioner to take immediate steps to repair the damaged roads and fill the potholes to prevent further inconvenience to commuters and avoid possible accidents.
Hyderabad: To draw the attention of GHMC officials to the pathetic condition of the Imlibun-Putlibowli road, a person lay down in a water-filled pothole in the middle of the road on Sunday night. A video of the protest went viral on social media on Monday. Police had to intervene as the traffic on the road came to standstill due to the protest, according to the video.
The video showed that police tried to pacify the protester who refused to budge from the pothole, stating that he was not doing anything wrong. When the police told him that traffic had come to a halt, he pointed towards the potholes and asked, “Is this even a road?”
Locals complained that whenever it rained, the road became slippery. A local, Shankar, said there were huge potholes on the stretch, which get filled with rainwater.
“Potholes are being covered with mud during the rain as a temporary measure and that is making the matters worse,” he said. “The mud gets washed away with the rain, leaving stones scattered across the road. This has been happening ever since the rain started this year,” he added.
