Hyderabad: New Civic Bodies Finalise Future Roadmap
This civic body includes Ghatkesar, Boduppal, Kapra, Keesra among others, where several unplanned layouts have been made.
Hyderabad: Three new Hyderabad intracity corporations have zeroed in on their priorities. The residual GHMC will focus on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s flagship infrastructural programme Musi Riverfront Development, upgrade infrastructure in Old City and work for mitigating flood threat in the core area.
The GHMC covers flood-prone areas like Jalpally, Yakutpura, Yousufguda, Ameerpet among others, where water clogging has been a major problem for decades. Officials of the GHMC will try to fix this issue.
The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC)’s strategic priority is traffic management, sanitation, and lake protection, which will be undertaken in coordination with Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).
Though the new corporation has around 35 lakh population, half of the GHMC, it faces greater threats from land sharks eyeing premium lands in the IT corridor. The threat is especially higher at Narsingi, Madhapur, Patancheruvu, Medchal, Nizampet.
The Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) — the largest in geographical spread — will focus on improving suburban road connectivity, sewage overhaul and regularisation of unplanned layouts.
