Hyderabad: Mobile thieves nabbed, 51 mobiles seized

Hyderabad: SR Nagar's crime team on Thursday arrested two notorious offenders involved in 12 theft cases and recovered 51 mobile phones worth Rs 10.20 lakh. The accused were arrested near Hitech City Metro Station while they were moving there suspiciously.
The accused Govind Bandari, 24, and Hikmat Rawal, 23, both are cooks and natives of Nepal. Goving and Hikmat would select hostels, join them as cooks, and Govind would snatch the mobile phones during the wee hours. Once the theft is over, both would flee the spot, said M. Gopal, detective inspector (DI) at SR Nagar police station talking to Deccan Chronicle.
When they were arrested, they were planning to dispose of the stolen mobiles in their native country Nepal in bulk, the DI said.
“The accused came to Hyderabad six months ago and has been working as cooks. They have been stealing phones from hostels and selling them off. They have so far carried out 12 mobile thefts, eight in the Hyderabad commissionerate area and four in the Cyberabad commissionerate area, the ACP said.
“We seized 51 mobile phones from their possession out of which 27 were identified from the different cases filed at various police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad commissionerates and the remaining 24 cell phones are yet to be identified, efforts are ongoing to trace out the remaining cell phone owners” ACP added.
