Hyderabad: The alleged rape attempt on a woman aboard a Secunderabad MMTS train has taken a significant turn, with Railway Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandana Deepti stating that the woman misled the police.
According to SP Deepti, the woman's injuries were sustained when she fell from the moving train while attempting to film an Instagram reel on her mobile phone. The SP revealed that the woman fabricated the rape attempt story to make her fall believable to the authorities.
The police investigation involved an extensive review of over 300 CCTV cameras and the interrogation of more than 120 suspects. Authorities are now in the process of seeking legal opinion to close the case based on their findings.
Initial reports of an attempted rape on a woman from Anantapur district, who works in a private firm, had gone viral. The woman, who fell from the MMTS train near Kompally, was initially admitted to Gandhi Hospital before being transferred to a private medical facility. She has since made a full recovery.
