Hyderabad: Health Minister Asks Officials To Conduct Prompt Testing For Seasonal Diseases
Rajanarsimha was speaking at a review meeting here to assess the measures required for the prevention of seasonal diseases, preparedness of government hospitals, and protection of public health: Report
HYDERABAD: Health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Monday instructed officials to conduct prompt testing and provide immediate treatment to every person presenting symptoms of fever, dengue, malaria, or other seasonal illnesses, with the onset of the monsoon. He directed all government hospitals to ensure there was no shortage of medicines, diagnostic kits, ORS packets, platelets, medical personnel, or emergency services.
Rajanarsimha was speaking at a review meeting here to assess the measures required for the prevention of seasonal diseases, preparedness of government hospitals, and protection of public health. Director of public health Dr Ravinder Nayak briefed the minister on the current situation and presented district-wise case data. The minister said the health department’s primary objective should be to prevent diseases from spreading rather than merely treating them after outbreaks occur.
He called for intensified mosquito-control measures in coordination with the municipal administration and panchayat raj departments.
The weekly ‘dry day’ programme should be effectively implemented at the field level, with continuous efforts towards eliminating stagnant water, larval control, fogging operations, and special fever surveys.
Special focus should be placed on villages, towns, schools, hostels, construction sites, and other high-risk areas. ASHA workers and ANMs were instructed to undertake door-to-door awareness campaigns to educate people on preventive measures.
Rajanarsimha also directed stronger coordination among departments including municipal administration, panchayat raj, education, women and child welfare, and revenue to accelerate sanitation drives, ensure safe drinking water, and strengthen field-level monitoring.
The review meeting was also attended by director of medical education Dr Narendra Kumar and medical officer Dr Amar Singh Naik.
