Hyderabad Gets 16% Rainfall Deficit Despite Active Monsoon Season

Hyderabad: Hyderabad registered 16 per cent deficit rainfall so far during this monsoon. It received only 237.4 mm of rainfall from June 1 to July 31 as against 282 mm. The city received rains only for 18 days.
Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts recorded a deficit rainfall by the end of July, while Ranga Reddy districts recorded normal rainfall. Due to inadequate rainfall, groundwater levels have not increased significantly. Boreholes have not been recharged.
However, the recent rains have brought some relief compared to the scorching summer.
The Medchal Malkajgiri district received a deficit rainfall of 37 percent. So far, 277.1 mm. of rainfall was expected, but only 175.7 mm was registered. Although the district registered rains for 21 days there was no significant rainfall.
The situation in Rangareddy district is somewhat promising. Around 244.7 mm. of rainfall was expected, but the district registered only 286.9 mm. The situation is somewhat better with 26 days of rain.
