Hyderabad: Form Distribution Gains Momentum In North, Central Hyd

HYDERABAD: The distribution of enumeration forms under the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral roll gained momentum across several parts of north and central Hyderabad on Friday, with booth level officers (BLOs) visiting homes and creating awareness about the month-long voter verification exercise.
Areas like Nizampet, Madhapur, Bansilalpet, Bachupally and Secunderabad witnessed BLOs distributing forms to voters and explaining the process for filling and submitting them. Residents in many localities said officials were visiting houses systematically.
Officials and BLOs said the response from the public had largely been positive, with most residents cooperating and collecting the forms without difficulty. In several colonies, voters were seen asking questions about the procedure, while BLOs explained the need to verify personal details to ensure the electoral rolls remain updated.
The situation was different in parts of the RTC crossroads area and Musheerabad, where several BLOs said they had not yet received enough printed forms for distribution. According to BLOs in the constituency, the shortage was caused by delays in printing and supply. They said they were instructed to inform residents about the SIR exercise and assure them that the forms would be distributed once stocks arrived.
“Senior officials have told us that the forms are expected to reach us by Sunday. We urged them to bring the forms by tomorrow night, so that we can begin visiting households on Sunday morning," a BLO in Musheerabad said.
Elsewhere, across northern and central Hyderabad, BLOs said the distribution process was progressing smoothly. Vikram, a BLO at Secunderabad, said: “The forms are being distributed to every voter who is available at their residence.”
“The forms are printed out for each voter with their name, Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC), address, serial number, part number and its name, Assembly constituency, Parliament constituency, state, the voter’s picture and a QR code. The voter should fill up the basic details, paste their current picture and their details in the electoral roll during the previous SIR, which was in 2002, if it is applicable,” Vikram further said.
Manoj Kumar, a BLO at Nizampet, said: “Once we distribute the forms, we will come back 4-5 days later and collect the forms from them. We will make 3 visits to each house and collect the forms.”
The BLOs said residents have generally been cooperative, and many are enthusiastic to understand how the process works.
“A lot of awareness has been spread, and people are enthusiastic to complete the process efficiently. Of course, we faced a few skirmishes with some households, but that was mostly minimal, and we still were able to explain to them the situation and deliver the forms,” Manoj added.
The SIR exercise will continue until July 24, after which the draft electoral roll will be prepared and published on July 31. After that, voters can raise claims and objections to the draft electoral rolls until August 30, and the final electoral rolls will be published on October 1.
