Hyderabad:The father of a Hyderabad-origin woman sought the urgent intervention from authorities to rescue his eight-month-pregnant daughter, who is allegedly facing severe physical and mental abuse by her husband in Sharjah, UAE.
Mohammed Abdul Nayeem Shakeel, a resident of Tolichowki, said his daughter Sumayya Siddiqua and her three children were living in Sharjah with her husband, Khaja Rafiuddin Ahmed Ansari, who is employed there.
In a letter seeking help, Shakeel alleged that his daughter had faced continuous harassment and physical abuse since her marriage. Despite repeated efforts by family members to counsel her husband and resolve the issue, the alleged abuse had continued.
He stated that the situation worsened on October 7 and 8, when his daughter was allegedly beaten severely and her head was hit against a wall, causing bleeding from her ear and nose. She reportedly lost consciousness following the assault.
According to the letter, her mother-in-law tried to intervene but was allegedly pushed away by her son. Neighbours later came to Sumayya's assistance.
He urged authorities to help bring his daughter back to India. Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan urged the Indian Embassy in UAE and the Consulate General of India in Dubai to intervene, protect the woman and repatriate her back to India for her safety.
