Hyderabad: Degree Student Dies After His Speeding Motorcycle Crashes Into Electric Pole

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old degree student died and his friend sustained serious injuries after their speeding motorcycle brushed against another two-wheeler and crashed into an electric pole following a collision with a scooter at Trimulgherry on Thursday morning.

The deceased seated on the pillion, was identified as K. Tejas, a first-year degree student at Government Degree College, Bolaram. His friend, Kannaiah Kumar, 18, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered fractures to his hand and fell unconscious. He has been admitted to a private hospital. Police said neither of them was wearing a helmet.

The accident occurred around 8.25 am near the toddy compound on Dairy Farm Road at Chinna Kamela turning. According to the police, the motorcycle was heading towards Holy Family Junction when a scooty, carrying a husband and wife, signalled and began taking a right turn towards Chinna Kamela.

Police said Kannaiah, who was allegedly riding at a high speed, suddenly attempted to cut past the scooter but slightly brushed against it. Under the impact, the motorcycle veered off the road and rammed into an electric pole beside a transformer.

The impact was severe, throwing Tejas, the pillion rider, into the pole. He died on the spot. The motorcycle's front portion was damaged in the crash. The couple on the scooter sustained bruises and were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.

Tejas, a resident of Alwal, is survived by his father, an electrician, and his mother, who works in a private company. His postmortem was conducted at Gandhi Hospital before the body was handed over to the family.

Trimulgherry police registered a case under under BNS section 106(1) and are investigating the accident.

Johnson Lifts Not involved in Fatal Accident At Chandanagar

Hyderabad: Johnson Lifts Pvt. Ltd. has issued a clarification stating that it did not manufacture, install or maintain the elevator involved in the fatal accident at Chatwaz Mansions, Annapurna Enclave, Chandanagar.

In response to a report, ‘Woman gets trapped in a moving lift’ in these columns on August 4, the company said it had been incorrectly identified 'Johnson Lifts' as the manufacturer of the elevator.

Johnson Lifts stated that the elevator involved in the incident was a third-party lift that it had no connection with as manufacturer, installer, or maintenance agency.

The Chandanagar police said that they have not yet ruled out the accusation against company and were yet to come to complete the investigation.

Choutuppal Police Seize 29 Cattle Transported Illegally

Hyderabad: Choutuppal police seized 29 cattle allegedly being transported illegally and booked four persons during a vehicle inspection near Lakkaram bridge on Tuesday. Police said constables Uday and Srihari, acting on information, had intercepted the vehicle.

The accused were identified as Roduru alias R. Babu, driver and owner of the vehicle, and B. Maruthi, 20, both from Ballari district of Karnataka, Seeram Srinu of Anakapalli district and Aadi Narayan of Rajamahendravaram in Andhra Pradesh.

During questioning, the accused allegedly told the police that the cattle were purchased at the Tuni market and were being transported to Hyderabad, according to inspector G. Manmadha Kumar.
