Hyderabad: DCA Teams Seize 38 Termin Vials In Warangal

HYDERABAD: Drugs Control Administration (DCA) Warangal zone teams, acting on inputs from the commissioner’s task force, raided an unlicensed premises in Charbouli, Warangal district, and seized 38 vials of Termin injections (Mephentermine Sulphate Injection IP 30 mg/ml) illegally stocked and sold by owner Mohammed Abdul Sohaib.
Assistant director Dr G. Rajyalakshmi said the seized cardiac stimulant drug was being supplied to gym‑goers for abuse in bodybuilding. “Mephentermine sulphate injection is a cardiac stimulant primarily used to normalise decreased blood pressure during spinal anaesthesia in surgery. It induces release of noradrenaline, enhances cardiac output, and rapidly raises blood pressure. Only a doctor should determine the dose and duration,” she said.
Drugs inspector P. Shravan Kumar added: “With its cardiac stimulatory action, the injection is being misused to enhance endurance in bodybuilders. Certain gyms are illegally selling it to improve performance in competitive sports.”
Officials said the illegal stocking and sale of such prescription drugs to gym‑goers violates the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, punishable with imprisonment of up to five years.
The public may report complaints regarding illegal medicine activities, including suspected manufacturing of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial or industrial areas through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana toll‑free number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm on all working days, a press release issued by DG DCA TG stated.
