Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police (HCP) has reported a 15% decline in overall crime during 2025 compared to the previous year, marking a significant leap in law enforcement effectiveness and public safety. The statistics were shared in the HCP's Annual Report 2025, released by Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, who called the year one of “strategic transformation, digital policing, and strong community trust.”
According to the report, total crime cases dropped from 35,944 in 2024 to 30,690 in 2025. Key highlights include:
28% reduction in property offences
16% reduction in bodily offences
14% drop in BNS + SLL registered cases
31% drop in grave property offences
However, crimes against women rose by 6% and child abuse cases (POCSO) increased by 27%, prompting focused interventions.
Cybercrime on the Radar
A strong thrust was placed on cybercrime awareness and prevention under the “Jagruth Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad” campaign, launched by DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy. The campaign aimed at door-to-door awareness about digital fraud, phishing, deepfake scams, and illegal apps.
Despite a marginal drop in cybercrime cases (from 4,042 in 2024 to 3,735 in 2025), financial losses due to frauds remain substantial, with over ₹319 crore lost. However, ₹54.5 crore was successfully frozen, preventing further damage.
