Hyderabad: The city is set to turn warmer as Cyclone Ditwah forms over the Bay of Bengal. While some parts of Telangana may receive rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that there is no likelihood of rainfall in Hyderabad though on Thursday the sky over the city was cloudy.

Cyclone Ditwah, the name referring to a lagoon and suggested by Yemen, is expected to hit the south AP-Tamil Nadu coast. It is expected to make landfall in 48 hours.

According to the IMD forecast, dry weather will prevail across the state on Thursday and Friday, though a few southern districts may receive light to moderate rain at isolated locations.

IMD said it has been tracking the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka, based on observations recorded at 8.30 am on Thursday.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Dr K. Nagaratnam, head of the Meteorological Department in Telangana, said, “The city will not be affected much by this cyclone. There are no indications of rain for Hyderabad. Some southern districts of the state may receive light to moderate rains at isolated places.”
