HYDERABAD: The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), Telangana, condemned the attack on a woman doctor while she was on duty at the Bhoodan Pochampally Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Thursday and sought immediate action to ensure the safety of healthcare staff.

In a statement issued on Friday, HRDA said doctors and healthcare workers who serve the public should be able to perform their duties without fear. It particularly raised concern over the safety of women doctors working at PHCs and other healthcare facilities at the grassroots level, saying they should not be forced to work in fear due to inadequate security. The association said an attack on a doctor was an attack on the healthcare system itself and called on the government to ensure a safe and secure working environment for doctors and healthcare staff.

The association demanded immediate legal action against the person responsible for the attack and adequate security for doctors and healthcare staff while on duty. It also called for stronger security measures at all PHCs, hospitals and other healthcare facilities, along with strict preventive and legal measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. HRDA urged the authorities concerned to take immediate and appropriate action to protect the safety and dignity of doctors and healthcare workers serving the public.
