HYDERABAD: Panjagutta police on Tuesday arrested a man who fled with a bag containing ₹1 crore from a businessman at Taj Deccan Hotel, Banjara Hills, and recovered ₹32 lakh from his possession.

The accused, Md Adnan alias Ethasham, 39, a resident of Charminar, had on December 22 asked his friend Fahad to lure victim Mohammed Shareef, 21, to the hotel on the pretext of a gold investment. Adnan promised to convert ₹1 crore into US dollars for an online gold purchase, but fled with the bag through the staff exit, leaving Shareef waiting in the parking lot until 12.30 pm.

Police traced him after he abandoned his car in Begumpet.
