Hostel Owner Booked Under Pocso Act
Police said the girl initially remained silent but confided in her family on Friday after they noticed her withdrawn behaviour.
Hyderabad: Tension flared at a hostel in Madhapur on Saturday after a family allegedly attacked the owner over charges of physically harassing their 16-year-old daughter. According to Madhapur SI Balaram, the girl, a NEET aspirant, was staying at the NPP Executive Women’s Working Hostel when the owner, Satyaprakash, allegedly misbehaved with her on August 4.
Police said the girl initially remained silent but confided in her family on Friday after they noticed her withdrawn behaviour. Enraged, the family, along with relatives, stormed the hostel and allegedly assaulted Satyaprakash, causing a commotion. Police, alerted through Dial 100, rushed to the spot and took both sides into custody.
A local woman said, “It is very wrong to keep boys in a women’s hostel. There is no woman warden; only he is there.” Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s family, Madhapur police registered a case under relevant sections of the Pocso Act. Investigation is underway.
Satyaprakash suffered minor injuries and was treated immediately. He told reporters he had not harassed anyone and denied any misconduct.
