A 48-year-old home guard died after a mini-lorry allegedly rammed his two-wheeler near PVNR Expressway Pillar 191 at Upparpally around 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

Hyderabad:A 48-year-old home guard died after a mini-lorry allegedly rammed his two-wheeler near PVNR Expressway Pillar 191 at Upparpally around 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

The deceased, Abdul Sattar, was serving at the Tolichowki traffic police station. According to Attapur assistant sub-inspector Ch. Sreenu,Sattar was returning home after duty on his two-wheeler from Mehdipatnam towards Rajendranagar when the mishap occurred.

“Near Upparpally, a vehicle coming from behind hit the handle of his two-wheeler, pushing him down. He got crushed under the tyre and died on the spot,” ASI Sreenu said.

Locals caught the lorry driver and handed him over to the police. The ASI confirmed that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol. “We are examining CCTV footage from the area and will soon establish the cause of the accident,” he added.
