HYDERABAD: A Class 7 student of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Kompally, was allegedly assaulted on campus on Monday afternoon after being suspected of deflating a bicycle tyre in the parking area, Petbasheerabad police said Tuesday.

Investigating officer P. Dharmesh said that at 3 pm on Monday, the boy was found near the cycle stand. School authorities, acting on complaints of similar incidents, suspected him and directed senior students to bring him to the principal’s office.

A group of Class 10 students allegedly assaulted the boy, causing injuries to his back. The boy continued with his routine despite pain and only revealed the incident to his parents at night.

Based on a complaint filed by his mother, police registered a case against headmaster Krishna for allegedly instigating the assault. “The headmaster did not physically assault the child, but the allegation is that senior students acted under his supervision,” Dharmesh said.

No arrests have been made, and the case will be handled under the Juvenile Justice Act. Statements from staff and students are being recorded.
