Helmet Saves Motorist as Flyover Pipe Falls
The motorist said he was saved by god’s grace and his helmet.
Hyderabad:A motorist escaped unhurt when a drainage pipe from the Shaikpet flyover fell on him on Monday night. His helmet protected him as the pipe smashed to the ground. A video of the incident highlighting civic negligence was shared on social media. The motorist said he was saved by god’s grace and his helmet.
Other pipes on the flyover were also found to be in poor condition, with cracks and signs of weakness. The drainage pipe that channels water into the greenery below was clogged with dust and garbage. Following recent rains, water pressure weakened the pipe until it collapsed.
Engineers of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said they would identify and replace damaged pipes. They inspected the flyover and assured that replacement works would be taken up on priority.
