Hyderabad: Former SIB chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who surrendered before the special investigation team (SIT) probing the phone-tapping case, reportedly handed over four mobile phones to the police while and another gadget was abandoned in the US.

The SIT questioned Prabhakar Rao for the second consecutive day on Saturday, after he surrendered to them on Friday following a Supreme Court directive. The SIT reportedly inquired about the mobile phones he used as SIB chief.

It was reported that the SIT officials questioned Rao based on forensic analyses by as well as reports filed by Apple and Gmail representatives on data that he had stored during his tenure at the SIB. SIT officials obtained inputs that some data related to personnel was deleted by the former SIB chief.
Senior police officials were monitoring the questioning process, directing the SIT to establish a proper link in the case.

It was reported that the SIT officials advised Prabhakar Rao not to hide any information, and that there was nothing exceptional in being questioned to get leads. The SIT would question Prabhakar Rao for five more days.
