Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has questioned the GHMC over compliance with statutory norms while granting permission for a 35-storey building at Gunfoundry in Abids.

The court sought to know whether the civic body had verified the width of approach roads, structural stability and environmental clearances before approving the project.

The court was hearing a petition filed in 2025 challenging the permission granted to Meenakshi Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. in August 2022 for the construction of Meenakshi Elysia.

The petitioner raised concerns over the project's location in a congested commercial area near the historic Moazzamjahi Market. The petition also questioned the proposed construction of two cellar levels and five additional levels, citing its potential impact on the surrounding area.

The petitioner sought a halt to further construction.

The court directed the High Court Registry to tag a connected writ petition with the case for joint hearing and adjourned the matter by two weeks.
